Breakthrough

yellow daffodils

I got burned out and had to take time away. Now, as I ease back into the work, I'm striving to achieve a healthier balance between service and self.

One thing I've realized is that no matter where we are in our collaborations with others, the inner work of developing ourselves from the inside out is just as important. So this is an ode to that other half of the equation--our inner breakthroughs.

Breakthrough

Just keep writing. And write again.

Do what you love. And put your heart into it. And live and learn.

And do it again. And do it over again.

Each time getting better and better.

Each time understanding more

Until you break through:

“I got it!”

That jubilant cry echoes in the room.

Echoes across the world.

Others are stirred up by your excitement and tackle their own challenges.

And you work and practice and persist and stumble and get up again.

Keep working away at it until you burst through the next level.

And the next.

You carry that joy of discovery with you.

It’s like a scent,

Like the juicy life that flows through a daffodil in spring.

You shine out in a dreary, gray, anxious world:

There’s hope.

There’s life.

There’s movement.

There’s momentum.

There’s something to move toward—

Something beautiful and bright and promising.

We can be better than we are now.

We can be better than what we see around us.

There’s hope!
